undercut with a writhing dragon pursuing a sacred

okimono, including a Japanese child in a acrobatic
pose, signed Shinsei/Niigoe [left side] and a toad
in the guise of a sumo wrestler wearing a keshomawashi
apron, signed Koetsu [right]

Two Chinese scholar’s incense holders, Qing
dynasty, the first of zitan fashioned as a miniature
trunk of zitan, the wood a rich dark brown hue,
the second carved from a piece of huang yang mu
(boxwood), rendered as a trunk of a boxwood tree,
with pigmenet accents, 4.25”h and 5.25”h

rendered in the “bai miao,” manner in ink with gilt accents, some
leaves with collectors’ seals, wooden cover with paper label reading “Bei Song baiomao meiren bafu,” followed by the name of the collection and collector’s name, “Shuangqing-tang zhencang”
